It started with Memphis Custom Countertops & Cabinetry. After 23 years building custom countertops and cabinetry for families in the Memphis and Hernando area, I finally took on the one project I’d been preparing for my whole career: building my own dream home, and with the same craftsmen who’ve helped me transform homes for years.
After more than two decades fabricating natural stone countertops and building custom cabinetry throughout Memphis, Hernando, and the surrounding areas, stepping into the role of both client and fabricator was a completely different experience. For years, I’ve helped homeowners, designers, and builders bring their spaces to life. But building my own dream home allowed me to slow down, savor every detail, and appreciate our work in a way I rarely have the opportunity to. Watching my own team fabricate each countertop, align every cabinet, and create specialty pieces like the custom range hood made this project not just another build, but the most personal one of my career to date.

Why I Trusted My Own Memphis Custom Countertops & Cabinetry Team
Working with my own team on this home was one of the most meaningful parts of the entire process. These are the same team members who have helped me fabricate and install custom countertops and cabinetry in homes across the greater Memphis area for decades. We’ve refined our process together. We have improved our efficiency, and built a standard of craftsmanship I’m incredibly proud of. Seeing them bring that same level of care and precision into my own dream home is something truly special.
When you’ve been in this industry for as long as I have, you develop a deep appreciation for the details. Grain on a cabinet door, the flow of veining across a stone seam, the height of a shelf that will genuinely be used, the ease of keeping a vanity clean without water pooling in corners… Treating my own house as a “showcase project” allowed me to slow down, intentionally select every finish, and choose materials I wholeheartedly stand behind.
- Perfectly aligned shaker door profiles
- Vein-matched stone seams
- Soft-close cabinet adjustments
- Consistent reveals and clean spacing
- Precision mitered corners
- Edge profiles chosen for comfort and aesthetic balance
Building my own home let me truly admire these details. This is something I rarely get to do on the fast-paced timeline of a typical client project.

THE KITCHEN | Tri-Color Cabinetry, Shaker Style, and a Functional Island
The kitchen is the heart of this home and the clearest reflection of what our team does best.
Tri-Color Cabinetry for Depth & Warmth
- Warm wood lower perimeter cabinets for natural texture
- Clean white upper cabinets to keep the space bright & airy
- A contrasting island color to anchor the room
Classic Shaker Cabinetry
We built the entire kitchen in a timeless shaker style, which offers clean lines that pair beautifully with natural stone. It’s classic, versatile, and allows the countertops to shine.
A Highly Functional Island Designed for Family & Friends
- Deep drawers for pots and pans
- Wide drawers for utensils and prep tools
- Base cabinets for small appliances and everyday items
- A durable quartzite countertop perfect for large gatherings
- A classic eased edge gives the space a sleek, timeless profile without distracting from the stone.
The back and sides were finished cleanly to maintain a polished look from every angle, which is especially important in an open-concept layout.
Custom Range Hood
Our team built a custom wood hood that ties the warm perimeter cabinetry and the island together. It’s one of my favorite features in the entire home!

THE HALF BATH | Small but Packed With Character
- Custom wainscoting for architectural detail

- Stone vanity top styled like furniture
- I chose a bullnose edge for its gentle curves and timelessness. It adds subtle movement without overwhelming the smaller space.

THE PRIMARY BATH | A Calm Retreat With Custom Inset Cabinetry
Designed to feel restful and serene, the primary bath features inset cabinetry that looks like furniture, and has a luxury retreat feel.
- Dual vanities
- Plenty of drawer storage
- Soft quartz countertop

- Soft, neutral stones and finishes
- Huge primary closet Island with storage and countertop drop space for everyday essentials
- A bevel edge brings just the right amount of softness and interest to the countertops

THE LAUNDRY ROOM | Practical, Polished, and Built for Everyday Use
- Upper cabinetry for detergents and supplies
- Stone countertop over the laundry bins for folding space
- Efficient, easy-access layout
- The eased edge gives continuity from the kitchen and offers both durability and refinement.

THE MUDROOM | Durable, Functional, and Welcoming
- Individual cubbies for shoes, coats, and bags
- Built-in drop zone with a stone top
- Closed storage to hide everyday clutter
- Warm finishes that make it inviting
- A sturdy edge was the natural choice. This one is ready to handle grocery bags, sporting gear, keys, and anything else that comes through the door.

THE GUEST BATH | Clean, Cozy, and Thoughtfully Styled
A bright and inviting space with clean lines, and a fresh, effortless feel.
- Neutral cabinetry grounds the space with calm simplicity
- A simple palette lets textures and small details shine
- Smooth Viatera countertop for a polished, modern feel

THE OFFICE | Compact, Calm, and Built for Productivity
- Custom cabinetry for organization
- Durable stone desktop
- Glass French doors to open the space visually
- Muted palette to support focus
- A modern edge keeps the workspace sleek and uncluttered.

Why I Chose Different Countertop Edges
Every room in a home has its own purpose, personality, and rhythm. I wanted the countertop edges to reflect that. Edge profiles may seem like small details, but they have a surprisingly big impact on the overall feel of a space. Choosing a different edge in some rooms allowed me to highlight the craftsmanship our Hernando fabrication shop is known for. It also shows how versatile stone can be.
- Showcases the range of techniques our team can execute
- Demonstrates how much an edge can influence the look of a countertop
- Helps homeowners visualize what works best in different rooms
- Creates subtle visual transitions from one space to the next
From soft curves to clean modern lines, each edge was chosen intentionally to support the function and style of the space it belongs to. These small touches are where true custom design shines.
